On Friday, English capital football club Chelsea FC announced signing Spanish striker Álvaro Morata from Real Madrid on a five-year contract.
24-year-old Morata graduated from Real Madrid’s academy, making his professional debut in 2010. Last season, the Spanish international scored 20 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos and won La Liga title as well as the UEFA Champions League trophy. Morata played for Italian giants Juventus FC for two seasons, joining the Turin club in 2014; in his debut season for the Old Lady, Morata finished second with Juve in the Champions League, losing to Barcelona. Morata won the Serie A titles in both the seasons with Juventus. Morata has 20 international caps, and has scored nine goals.
After signing the contract, Morata said, “I’m so happy to be here. It’s an incredible emotion to be part of this big club. I’m looking to work hard, score as many goals as I can and to win as many trophies as possible”.
Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo said, “Alvaro has proven class at the highest level and his quality will be a huge asset to Antonio and the squad.”
